Chaos (2016)

contemporary design chaos

CHAOS is a contemporary design object

Our passion for awakened thoughts, the joy of research and the fascination for the essence of matter are the driving force behind the emergence of our objects. The spirit of Strala is that of a seeker who is constantly challenged to get closer to the cause of the substance and to understand what is hidden behind the curtain. Strala pursues the scent of an intriguing idea, not to kill her, but to breathe life into her.

Where different worlds collide, the frictional CHAOS forces that we create through our object art & amp; Furniture materialize. Because precisely there, the thought is no longer black or white – it is completely free of values. For a fraction of a moment, there is that immediacy which contains neither knowledge nor meaning, and is therefore more sensuous than anything else in the world.

In recent years, Strala has created a unique collection CHAOS of art objects that is independent of short-lived trends and constraining norms. Strala’s objects are acknowledged and appreciated as timeless, precise and attractive works of art and use. This is Strala’s DNA.

Abstraction in concrete form

CHAOS is a light sculpture made from five commercially available, interlinking, luminescent tubes. A control dial allows you to choose how many tubes you wish to have illuminated at any time, so you can create a mood to suit you. All five tubes together produce a light output of 10,250 lumens, so CHAOS can be employed to create the perfect lighting scheme for domestic spaces of any size, but is also powerful enough for studio spaces, foyers and loft-living. The striking thing about CHAOS lamps is how they make use of otherwise unloved, everyday objects, combining ordinary cable ties, electric cables and cost-cutting lighting elements in an unsentimental way. The CHAOS design avoids kitsch, neither concealing nor glorifying the apparent inexpensiveness of the components used. Instead, the different elements are brought together in a response to their arbitrary nature. Like a molecular structure, they interlock as their forms permit. The resultant tangled shape leads the eye from the whole to each constituent element and back again. Abstract form becomes concrete, dissolving again into abstraction. CHAOS is an object that makes use of mundane elements, in order to alter the way we view individual components, from the vantage point of the whole.
