By clearing the Bahnhofplatz (tree alley until the beginning of the square), the station with its prominently staged, cantilevered concrete roof gains an urban presence. The north-east facing Bahnhofplatz is extended towards the bus station. The fragmentary architecture of the train station is characteristic for the new bus station building. It is a play of surface and volume. The bus station pillars orchestrate the square along its longitudinal axis and divide it into bus stops, waiting areas and movement zones. The filter effect of the pillars provide for clarity and orientation. They open up a clear view for both arriving and departing passengers. The white concrete pillars adapt their grid to the length of the bus.
